Calm support for sustained exhaustion — in person or online

Burnout Recovery Hypnotherapy in Wokingham & Online

Rebuild the energy, focus and drive that burnout has worn away.

You're not lazy, and you're not imagining it. Burnout is real, and it's not the same as being tired — it's the state where rest doesn't seem to touch the exhaustion, where things that used to feel manageable now feel impossible, and where the version of you that used to cope with all of this seems to have quietly disappeared. I'm Darren, and helping people properly recover — not just push through until the next collapse — is work I find genuinely rewarding. This is more common than people realise among capable, high-performing people, and it really can change.

Can hypnotherapy help me?

If any of these sound familiar, then yes — this is exactly what I help people with every week:

  • You sleep, but you don't wake up rested — the exhaustion is bone-deep, not just tiredness
  • Small tasks that used to be automatic now feel like climbing a hill
  • You've started to dread things you used to be genuinely good at, or even enjoy
  • You feel flat, numb, or irritable in a way that doesn't feel like "you"
  • You've tried to push through it, and it's only got worse
  • So you can rebuild real capacity, not just cope until the next collapse.

More about burnout, hypnotherapy & how I work

Rebuild the energy burnout took from you

Tap any card to read more — open whatever's useful to you.

Burnout is not a motivation problem and it is not proof that you have become less capable. More often it is what happens when a conscientious nervous system has been under too much pressure for too long and can no longer recover properly.

That is why high-performing people are often the ones who end up here. They keep going, override the warning signs, and then wonder why ordinary rest no longer touches the exhaustion.

Understanding burnout this way removes a lot of shame. It stops being a willpower problem and starts making sense as a genuine overload state. Burnout also often erodes self-esteem, because people start reading exhaustion as personal failure instead of overload.

Stress usually still has energy in it. You may feel tense, pressured, wired, or overloaded, but there is still some drive available underneath.

Burnout is different. It feels flatter, more depleted, more detached, and often strangely unmoved by the usual things that are meant to help.

That is why ordinary rest often does not fix burnout on its own. If the nervous system is still stuck in chronic overload, recovery needs to happen at that deeper level. If what you're feeling is more like pressure than collapse, my stress page explains that distinction more fully.

Hypnotherapy for burnout recovery is not about pushing you to perform again. It is about helping the chronic overload state settle so your system can finally begin restoring properly.

  • Work directly with the internal pressure and bracing pattern
  • Support better sleep, steadier energy, and clearer thinking
  • Reduce overwhelm, irritability, and emotional shutdown
  • Help recovery feel possible without adding more pressure

That is why people often start by noticing more space in their body and mind before fuller energy returns. If burnout has also been fuelling autopilot coping like doom-scrolling, comfort eating, or other repetitive patterns, my habit breaking page covers that side of recovery as well.

Your Client Support Guides are there to protect progress between appointments, especially when life is still demanding and the old push-through reflex tries to take over again.

  • Recovery protection tools — practical ways to lower strain through the week
  • Sleep and settling support — helping your system switch down more reliably
  • Capacity rebuilding — pacing recovery without guilt or all-or-nothing pressure
  • Boundary support — reducing overgiving while your energy rebuilds gradually

I am professionally registered, fully insured, and accountable to recognised professional bodies. That matters, especially when you are supporting people whose system has been under sustained strain for a long time.

I have worked with many professionals, carers, business owners, and high-responsibility clients recovering from prolonged overload. The work is tailored, calm, and grounded in what recovery actually needs.

I take burnout seriously because it is serious. It is not laziness, a lack of resilience, or something you should simply push through and hope disappears.

Many people who come to me have delayed getting help because admitting burnout felt like admitting failure. I do not see it that way. I see capable people whose system has carried too much for too long and now needs proper support.

My role is to help you recover without adding another layer of pressure on top. For many people, recovery also means addressing people-pleasing and boundary strain so the same overgiving pattern does not pull you back under again.

Frequently asked questions

The things people most often want to know before getting in touch.

How is burnout different from just being stressed?
Stress is your system responding to pressure; burnout is what happens when that response has been sustained for too long without real recovery. It typically involves deeper exhaustion, emotional flatness, and a loss of capacity that ordinary rest doesn't fix.
I'm signed off work / about to be signed off. Can hypnotherapy actually help, or is this too serious for that?
Hypnotherapy can be a genuinely valuable part of recovery from burnout, working alongside — not instead of — any medical support you're receiving from your GP. If you're currently signed off, that's completely appropriate, and many clients I've worked with have been in exactly that position.
I took two weeks off and I'm still exhausted. Does that mean something's seriously wrong with me?
No — it usually means the exhaustion is coming from a deeper nervous system state, not simply a lack of rest. This is one of the clearest signs burnout has set in properly, and it's precisely the pattern this work addresses.
I don't have time to "recover properly" — I have a job, a family, responsibilities. Is there a realistic option for someone like me?
Yes — many burnout clients continue working and managing responsibilities throughout the programme. We build a realistic plan around your actual life, not an idealised version of rest you don't have access to.
How do I know if this is burnout or something more serious, like depression?
That's an important question, and if you're at all unsure, it's worth discussing with your GP alongside any hypnotherapy work. Burnout and depression can share some features, and getting the right support for what's actually happening matters more than the label.
I've tried taking time off and it didn't help. Why?
Time off addresses the schedule, not the underlying nervous system state. Many people return from a break to find the exhaustion is still there within days — that's the sign the recovery needs to happen at a deeper level.
How many sessions before I start feeling more like myself?
Many clients notice sleep and the constant background exhaustion easing first, sometimes within the initial sessions, with fuller energy and motivation returning as the programme progresses — usually within three to four sessions overall.
Can I keep working while I do this?
Often, yes — many clients continue working through the programme, sometimes adjusting their pace as capacity returns. We'll talk through what's realistic for you specifically.
